The AIA Trust is now in process of developing a new member resource, a legal network, anticipated to launch sometime in 2014; the resource will be offered free of charge to AIA members. The AIA Trust will be contacting reputable A/E construction law firms to be included in this database and wants to ensure that any current law firm memberships in and/or sponsorships of components are preserved. The AIA Trust is also interested in receiving recommendations for specific A/E law firms to include in the database.
The concept of the legal network will be similar to the Professional Liability Insurer Database launched in 2013 on the AIA Trust website. The new network will offer members a searchable database listing of reputable, experienced A/E attorneys by state along with a section of tips for working with attorneys and preparing for court.
Please note that participating law firms will be required to continue their firm’s relationship with and support for local and/or state AIA components. As a potential revenue source to firms currently without a component relationship, the Trust will ask them to initiate a relationship by contacting the AIA component(s) in their area.
Since AIA components may already work with A/E attorneys as allied members and/or sponsors, recommendations of any A/E law firms to be included in the AIA Trust legal network are now being solicited from components as well as from AIA members. Please forward the names and contact information for law firms which your component would recommend be included in the AIA Trust Legal Network for AIA Members to the AIA Trust at AIATrust@aia.org at your earliest convenience.
Please note the Trust’s criteria for listing law firms includes a minimum of five years’ experience in A/E-Construction Law and that they offer a free telephone consultation to AIA members regarding A/E issues (up to 15-minutes duration).
