Professional Liability Insurance

Although architects always try to do their best for their clients, mistakes do happen. And in such a litigious society, lawsuits have become an inevitability. Professional liability coverage not only pays judgment costs, it also prepares you for a lawsuit by paying claims defense costs. After all, even the fraudulent claims cost your firm money.

Since 1957 the AIA has worked with the CNA/Schinnerer Professional Liability Insurance Program which meets the challenges that architects face today and in the future. Administered by Victor O. Schinnerer & Company, Inc., the AIA Trust Professional Liability Insurance Program, through its strength and dedication to superior service and quality for AIA members for more than a half-century, continues to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the architectural profession. The program includes special plans for small firms, too.

The CNA/Schinnerer program now offers a special premium credit for AIA members. Architecture firms with up to $5 million in billings and an acceptable loss ratio are eligible (subject to state approval) for a premium credit of up to 5 percent.
